Frequently Asked Questions

What is involved in the first appointment?

In the initial appointment we will discuss the presenting issue(s) and explore the relevant history. Often screening assessments will take place to measure initial presentation. Therapeutic goal(s) will be made, and a plan about how to reach these goals over the coming sessions will be discussed and agreed on together.

Do I need a referral to access this service?

No, a referral is not required to access Cradle Psychology. However if you do have a referral, this may allow you to access Medicare rebates.

How do I get a referral?

You will need to book an appointment with your GP to discuss a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). If your GP provides a MHCP you may be eligible for up to 10 appointments per calendar year with Medicare rebates (this is for both home- visiting and telehealth appointments).

Can I use private health?

Yes, if your private health fund includes psychology cover, the invoice from the appointment can be used to claim from your health fund.

What is involved in a Home Visit appointment?

Prior to a home visit appointment, there are some criteria questions I will go over with you via email or phone. If home visiting appointments are booked, I will come to your home at a scheduled time for a 50 minute appointment. This is often at the table, on the couch or sitting on the floor if you have a little one (whatever you are most comfortable with, this is your time). Please do not feel that you need to prepare anything prior to my arrival. This appointment is for your comfort and convenience.

What is involved in a Telehealth appointment?

A zoom link will be emailed to you the day before your appointment time. At the scheduled appointment time, you can connect to the zoom link to start the session. Online sessions are held in a private space to ensure your confidentiality.

What if I want an appointment in a clinic?

Unfortunately at this time Cradle does not have a clinic space.

What if I need to cancel or re-schedule?

Of course there will be times when you need to re-schedule. Due to availability demands, a 24 hour notice period is required for no fee.

If you feel that this service is no longer right for you and you would prefer to cancel, I hope you are comfortable to share this with me so that I may offer suggestions of other services which may be better suited to your needs.

What if I can't get an appointment early enough?

Cradle Psychology is not a crisis service. There can often be a period of a few weeks between booking and your initial appointment. Booking a number of appointments ahead of time will prevent delays between sessions.
